The above speakers will be joined by a wide range of stakeholders from the national Slow Money movement and the Rhode Island food system. The following individuals will play a variety of roles -- plenary speakers, panelists and/or session leaders.
ERIC BECKER
CEO, Clean Yield, Shelburne, Vermont. Long history in impact investing (from before it was impact investing).
PJ BERGIN
Founder, SOIL Sangre de Cristo (Salida, CO), which has made fourteen 0% loans to local farmers and food entrepreneurs, totaling $89,000, since 2020.
DANIEL BOESE
Beetcoin Advisor. Former Senior Media Campaigner at Avaaz, a global activist network that has 65 million members in 192 countries. Daniel lives in Hamburg, Germany.
DAVE CHAPMAN
From his organic farm in Thetford, VT , Dave is co-founder of the
Real Organic Project, a national network of growers defending the integrity of organic standards.
CHARLEY CUMMINGS
Founder and CEO of Walden Mutual Bank (Concord, NH), with
$125 million in deposits and 100% mission focus on lending to New England food and farming businesses. Founder, Walden Local Meat Company, purveyor of 100% grassfed New England beef.
JESSICA DAVID
Founder of Local Returns (Providence), a newly formed cooperative dedicated to investing in neighborhood revitalization. Previously, Executive Vice President of Strategy and Community Investments at the Rhode Island Foundation.
MARGARET DeVOS
Executive Director, Southside Community Land Trust (Providence). Her career has been dedicated to developing local food systems that work for all. Southside currently has 60 farms (and 34 languages spoken) in its network.
KEVIN EGOLF
Former Investment Officer for Iroquois Valley Farms. Kevin lives in Rehoboth, MA and currently is CFO of a solar finance start-up.
ANDRALY HORN
With his daughter, Sienna Vietti (photo, above), Andraly is an organic farmer in Cumberland, RI and on the board of Southside Community Land Trust.
SHAI EREV LEVI
Shai lives in Israel, where he founded Slow Money Israel, which made its first 0% loan in May.
TANA SCHULTZ
Owns Lighthearted Ranch (Longmont, CO), where she raises goats, chickens and grows organic vegetables. A former trustee of the University of Colorado Foundation, she is now President of SOIL Boulder, the local slow money group that makes 0% loans.
STU MELTZER
Owner, Fearless Fish Market in Providence. In the fish distribution business for 24 years, with strong commitment to local and responsible sourcing.
MARTIN PING
Executive Director, Hawthorne Valley, a non-profit that runs a 250-acre biodynamic farm and farm store in Ghent, NY.
MICHAEL REILLY
Co-founder Foodshed Capital (Charlottesville, VA), whose Soil Fund has made more than $2 million in 0% loans to BIPOC farmers.
LISA RAIOLA
Founder and President of Hope & Main, a Warren-RI-based non-profit that has helped launched hundreds of food businesses, many of which are minority owned.
JEFF ROSEN
Professor, Tufts University, focusing on community investing, catalytic capital and sustainable finance, and founding investor in PV Grows, a small, slow money fund in the Pioneer Valley.
JESSE RYE
Executive Director, Farm Fresh RI, a nationally recognized food hub. Jesse is an active participant in a number of key local organizations and a recognized leader in the local food system.
TANA SCHULTZ
President, SOIL Boulder (CO), which since 2017 has made thirty-two 0% loans totaling $840,000. 2024: 140 members.
NICOLE VITELLO
Capital Coordinator, Equal Exchange. After ten years farming in RI, Nicole joined Equal Exchange, an iconic pioneer in hybrid business ownership and cooperative governance. She is now responsible for Equal Exchange's investor relations.
ROBIN VAN ASPEREN
My City Farm, Amsterdam, Netherlands. Robin runs a farm incubator and is a Beetcoin Advisor.
